Mr Versatile. Why the Blazer is a Man’s Best Friend

Mr Versatile. Why the Blazer is a Man’s Best Friend

Gone are the days when the term ”blazer” conjured images of a classic, dark navy jacket, with gold buttons.

The modern blazer is shorter, slimmer and much more comfortable to wear – it reflects the fact that men dress less formally than they once did.

Choose wisely and one blazer can be dressed up or down for almost any occasion.

Tie One On

Worn with a plain shirt and complementary tie, a blazer is suitable for even the most important business meetings. It has an air of formality, without the conservatism often associated with wearing a suit.

Make sure your trousers (whether wool, cotton, or linen) don’t match the colour of your blazer, or it might look like you are wearing a suit gone-wrong.

All Day, Every Day

The combination of blazer, shirt (with some interesting detailing) and a pair of chinos has become de rigueur, and rightly so. It is both smart and comfortable and is suitable for the office, restaurant, or social event.

Something Special

A printed shirt is often the highlight of an outfit, with the blazer playing a supporting role. This look is best suited to social events and creative workplaces.

Either chinos or jeans can complete the look.

Impact Player

You should always pack a blazer for a long weekend away or overseas travel. Why? Because it makes even the most casual outfit just that bit smarter.

A pair of jeans, sweater and sneakers is standard weekend casual-wear, but throw on a blazer and you won’t feel out of place at the best restaurant in town.
